It is said that nothing is as persuasive as a personal testimony. A personal testimony has convincing power. This is why the commercials are filled with the testimony of satisfied customers. A satisfied customer will convince you to join in and buy the same product. Likewise your conversion testimony has immense power. It should be written, memorized, practiced and polished. There’s nothing so powerful. Then major breakthrough has similar power to move others toward Christ.
St. Peter says in 1 Pe 3:15 “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks
you to give the reason for the hope that you have”. In the Acts 4:20 the Apostles say, “for
we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard”. St. John in 1 Jn 1:1 says:
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our
eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning
the Word of life”.
These passages speak of the need for and the power of personaltestimony. Even if they may wrestle with a teaching or practice of the Church, few peoplewill counter or refute what you have experienced first-hand – when articulated clearly, sincerely and humbly, with courage and conviction.
Let’s make this one of our IMPACT GOALS. Write, memorize, practice and polish your testimony. Then we could take it one step further. Come in and we’ll film your testimony. You could have a 2 minute version posted on your Facebook account. You could email it to friends across the states. Just crazy ideas to bless our crazy God.
While were on this topic, here’s a great listen…
