The new wineskin that God desires is a wineskin of communion – in and with the Word of God.
A wineskin of a prophetic people.
The prophetic realm of seeing and knowing what God is saying and doing.
This is meant to be the major difference with us the wineskin of the New Covenant believer. We are New Testament believers and as such we have the great privilege of being one with the Holy Spirit, anointed by Him with Supernatural gifts of power. In the days of the Old Testament the Holy Spirit did dwell within the people or anoint the people with supernatural power. Only the Prophets, Priests and Kings walked in this special realm. As the prophets looked forward they saw a new day dawning. Joel announced it before the time of Christ.
Joel 2: 28 “And it will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. 29 “And even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
Jesus told the disciples of this day, a day of pouring out the Holy Spirit. He told them to wait for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit. One hundred and twenty believers continued in prayer until the day of Pentecost.
Acts 1: 4 And gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 And so when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent, rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.
Tongue : 1100. glossa, gloce’-sah; of uncert. affin.; the tongue; by impl. a language (spec. one naturally unacquired):–tongue.
5 Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men, from every nation under heaven.6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because they were each one hearing them speak in his own language.7 And they were amazed and marveled, saying, “Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?8 “And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born?9 “Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,11 Cretans and Arabs– we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God.”12 And they all continued in amazement and great perplexity, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”13 But others were mocking and saying, “They are full of sweet wine.”14 But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea, and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words.15 “For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day;16 but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel:17 ‘AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,’ God says, ‘THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT UPON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;18 EVEN UPON MY BONDSLAVES, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT And they shall prophesy.
This is how the Church was launched…in grace and power under an anointing of prophetic utterance. If we lose the prophetic edge we have returned to the OT and to a form of religion.
We have been called into a living relationship, not a formal religion.
We have been restored to a Garden of Eden reality.
Where He walks with us and we hear His voice.
