Hebrews 11:6 Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who truly want to find him.
God seems to love the game of Chicken. Have you noticed that answers to prayer often don’t come early, but just in time, and I’m sure in our opinion, a little late. Ask Abraham about this. Sometimes the answer waits until we have had enough time to try another option – other than faith. In that way our trust is tested. Almost every reference to FAITH in the New Testament includes the idea of patience. Hebrews 6:12 is one of the many examples.
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. KJV
God is at work on solutions when we pray with faith according to His will, but many times we can’t see what’s taking place behind the scenes.
- There are undoubtedly spiritual forces resisting the answer. These must be overcome as we continue in the mode of FAITH. Our faith is giving strength or fuel to angelic forces as they fight to keep an open heaven above us. See Daniel 10
- Faith is likened to a seed. The Word of God’s will must be brought into the spiritual atmosphere and like seed in soil, it must grow, sprout and mature into full fruit. See Mark 4:26.
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. 29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
- Faith is an expression of trust that Father will bring into the natural realm the things He has shown us and promised us. In order to do this natural things have to be orchestrated. Therefore Father is working behind the scenes to move upon natural circumstances and people. People are sovereign beings, so moving them is the most challenging. All of this takes time.
I just got a note last night from one of our members. He has been asking Father for a promotion at work out of the office into outside sales. Several of us have been joining in that prayer. It’s been a several weeks of prayer and discussion with his supervisors and in the mean time they had opened and filled a position that would have worked perfectly. It looked bleak, until yesterday he was told that the number one outside sales lead found a better job and was leaving the company. They have offered him this number one spot with all the pre-made accounts as well. God’s answer seemed slow and delayed but the end of the story is that God’s plan was better.
The game of chicken is always worth playing with our Father. Try to hold out and rest in His works over your life. Paul wrote in Romans 10, “no one who puts their faith in Him will be disappointed.”
