What if obedience is the sweetest form of worship?
Being obedient demonstrates the highest level of trust. It can also show deference to the person who instructed us. I know it sure makes me happy when my children are obedient. What if God’s ultimate pleasure comes from us obeying Him?
Let’s take that a step further. What if we worship not only in song and sacrifice? What if we worship God by being obedient to Him?
What if true worship is the submission of one’s will?
1 Samuel 15:22-23 – ‘But Samuel replied:
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice,
and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
he has rejected you as king.”’
James 4:6- “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
I think God is longing for us to yield our lives totally to Him. And I think it provides one of the highest pleasures we can give Him when we simply and cheerfully obey Him.
