HUMILITY; THE THIRD EDGE
Humility is especially important where there is any taste of success. Any taste of blessing. Any taste of favor.
I wonder if God has had to pull favor back, success back, solutions back, promotion back because of the way we acted or reacted to success, favor or promotion.
Proverbs 27:21 The crucible is for silver and the furnace for gold, And a man is tested by the praise accorded him. NASB
Proverbs 27:21 The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the praise he receives. NIV
Here we see that we will be tested not only in he worst of times, we will be tested in the best of times.
Praise due to success, due to wisdom, due to favor, due to doing things well…all praise will bring uncleanness to the surface.
Praise will for force impurities to the surface.
Praise can make one feel special and partially invincible.
Praise is different to all of us. Money might be what strokes you, words of affirmation someone else, acts of kindness might appeal to someone else. We all have different love languages. When someone speaks those love languages to us, and we get built up, do we also get prideful?
In the midst of praise impurities will come up to the top, to the visible realm. Will you see them? Will you deal with them?
How much praise can God trust you with?
If you will humble yourself when praised you won’t have to go back down the mountain.
