Our soul was not transformed at salvation. Our soul is progressively transformed as we eat the Word, accept God’s Word and bring our thinking into conformity to God’s way of living. (Romans 12:1,2)
Our souls are needy of being fed, but not the food of the body. The food the soul needs is the food of significance, the food of hope, the food of peace, the food of fulfillment and the food of progress. It’s common for man to search for this soul-food in earthly ways. Somewhat like a country western song, it likes “looking for love in all the wrong places.”
The believer has discovered that no one feeds the soul like Jesus. The believer has learned to feed their soul on the Word of God. When we feed our soul on the Word of God, then all the things we need will come to us as a result. His Word is food to the soul. His Word is manna from heaven. His Word carries in it the hope, peace, love, guidance, significance and all the things we long for.
This is why Jesus said, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33.
Each day the believer draws near, new and fresh to the Word of God, he stays connected to His Kingdom and sheltered in His righteousness. This intentional drawing near fills the soul with the wisdom from above and the faith to move mountains.
When you are in a crisis or facing a deep need, seek to hear from the Word of God. Go looking to the Lord in scripture and in the prophetic. God has a Word that will medicate your soul and you will find rest over and against anxiety. He has what your soul needs for every situation.
