An agnostic environment is inspired and propagated by the Ministry of Baal and Asherah and those who cooperate with spirits in culture.
Baal, the half-bull, half-man god of fertility, was the focal point of pagan idolatry in Semitic Israel until God revealed His monotheistic nature to Judaism’s forebears.
The principal pillars of Baalism were child sacrifice, sexual immorality (both heterosexual and homosexual) and pantheism (reverence of creation over the Creator).
It was believed that human sacrifice to Baal held the key to prosperity. People desiring to live in prosperity and ease would bring their first born child to the priest of Baal, where the child would be offered as a burnt offering to the diety.
The altar of Baal was in the image of a bull with the head and shoulders of a man. Its arms extended outward and fire belched out from a hole in the chest. The priest of Baal placed the babies on the outstretched arms, where the child would be rolled into the fire. As the child died, the priest and priestess engaged in sexual intercourse, while an orgy occurred among the onlookers.
Adults would gather around the altar of Baal. Infants would then be burned alive as a sacrificial offering to the deity. Amid horrific screams and the stench of charred human flesh, congregants – men and women alike – would engage in bisexual orgies. The ritual of convenience was intended to produce economic prosperity by prompting Baal to bring rain for the fertility of “mother earth.”
The natural consequences of such behavior – pregnancy and childbirth – and the associated financial burdens of “unplanned parenthood” were easily offset. One could either choose to engage in homosexual conduct or – with child sacrifice available on demand – could simply take part in another fertility ceremony to “terminate” the unwanted child. Does that sound familiar?
The native religion of the Canaanites centered on El, the male creator god, and his wife Asherah. Baal was the son of their union. Baal later replaced El and became the chief male diety of Canaan. Later, in an act of incest, Baal married his own mother (i.e.Asherah), who was worshipped as a mother goddess and the chief female diety of Canaan. As Mother Goddess, Asherah was widely worshiped throughout Palestine and Syria.
It was in this environment we find Elijah the prophet confronting the King and Queen of Israel; Ahab and Jezebel. Jezebel is /was in scripture a person who cooperated with the intention of these demon deities to fulfill their wishes. She appears in this story, then again in the life of John the Baptist (through Herodius) and then again in Revelation chapter 2. The story of Jezebel is a powerful story and metaphor since these deities seek to dominate and eliminate male authority-dignity through the idolatry of female sensuality and earthy wisdom (false prophecy). Ahab is condemned because he yielded to her impure leadership.
I Kings 16:28 So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son became king in his place.29 Now Ahab the son of Omri became king over Israel in the thirty‑eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty‑two years.30 And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD more than all who were before him.31 And it came about, as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he married Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went to serve Baal and worshiped him.32 So he erected an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria.33 And Ahab also made the Asherah. Thus Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
Matthew 11: 13 “For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 “And if you care to accept it, he himself is Elijah, who was to come. 15 “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
I Kings 21:25 Surely there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife incited him.26 And he acted very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites had done, whom the LORD cast out before the sons of Israel.
I Kings 18:19 “Now then send and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.” 20 So Ahab sent a message among all the sons of Israel, and brought the prophets together at Mount Carmel. 21 And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people did not answer him a word. 22 Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the LORD, but Baal’s prophets are 450 men.
We need to be Elijah’s who will not bow to this entity.
Mal. 4: 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
God is raising up Elijah’s who will confront these entities in prayer and in their lifestyle.
Jezebel represents the deities of Baal and Asherah.
These deities are set out to silence the prophetic edge of the spirit led believer.
These entities use a female / the female person / to persuade men away from the prophetic.
These entities hate the prophetic and seek to silence (even eliminate) the prophetic anointing.
We need to resist seduction away from the prophetic:
Reasoning based living
Fear of the leading of the Holy Spirit
Dead religion: disassociation with the spirit
Indifference: I don’t think it’s that important. I know what to do. I don’t think that important.
Sexual idolatry and Sexual imbalance: The enemy knows that when you are seduced away from Holiness you will avoid intimacy with the Holy Spirit and you will live out of the natural realm.
You will not seek to be alive or awakened by the prophetic.
Due to idolatry, You will be numb to the prophetic.
