Prayer.. Power and Priority

Pastor Dwain Excellence, Prayer, Wisdom

Will you make prayer your chief priority?

  • He wants prayer to be the first thing we do and what we do before we do the first thing.

What about other great ministers, great harvesters and reformers?  What did they discover about prayer how it affected the impact and influence God granted them?

Here are listed some quotes from histories successful ministers:

“You can do more than pray after you have prayed; but you can never do more than pray until you have prayed.”  A.J. Gordon

“God does nothing except in response to believing prayer.”  John Wesley

“Prayer strikes the winning blow; service is simply picking up the pieces.”  S.D. Gordon

“If I fail to spend two hours in prayer each morning, the devil gets the victory through the day. I have so much business I cannot get on without spending three hours daily in prayer.  Martin Luther

“Prayer is where the action is.” John Wesley

“Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees.” Corrie ten Boom

“I would rather teach one man to pray than ten men to preach.”  Charles Spurgeon

“Prayer is the secret of power.”  Evan Roberts

“Since the days of Pentecost, has the whole church ever put aside every other work and waited upon Him for ten days, that the Spirit’s power might be manifested? We give too much attention to method and machinery and resources, and too little to the source of power.”  Hudson Taylor

“Where there is no vision of eternity, there is no prayer for the perishing.”  David Smithers

“Prayer is buried, and lost and Heaven weeps.  If all prayed the wicked would flee from our midst or to the refuge.” Evan Roberts

“Ministers who do not spend two hours a day in prayer are not worth a dime a dozen – degrees or no degrees.”  Leonard Ravenhill

  • Prayer is where the real action is.
  • Prayer is where the war is won.
  • Prayer is where the real action is.
  • Prayer is where the victory is gained.
  • Prayer is where things are accomplished.
  • Prayer is where the winning takes place.

Proverbs 21: 31  The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But victory belongs to the LORD.

Psalm 147:10  He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.  The LORD favors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His loving kindness.
