Pastor Dwain Leadership, The Church of Love

“Feed my lambs.” “Tend my sheep.” “Feed my sheep.”

Do you love Jesus?

Most of us would say emphatically, “YES.”

In John 21, Jesus gives us the barometer of loving Him well. He tells us that if we love Him then we will tend and feed His lambs and His sheep. If we aren’t taking time to do this, then we aren’t loving Him, either.

John 21:15-17 – So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?”
He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”
He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” (Lambs are young ones.)
He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?”
He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”
He said to him, “Tend My sheep.” (Provide leadership and guidance.)
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?”
And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.” (Provide nutrition, and satisfy hunger.)

In this passage, the Lord is talking to all of our hearts – and our lifestyle, as well. One of the primary ways we show the Lord we love Him is to care for those whom He loves. If we aren’t tuned in to one another, caring for one another and making time for one another, we aren’t just neglecting people: we are neglecting the Lord.

In this world of goals and things, yield to the wisdom of the Word, let the Word shift your priorities and value systems. People matter.
