Hope is by definition; a positive expectation of good in the future. That being said, hope mainly flourishes in the mind and is related to the future. Hope manifests itself in positive visions, positive imaginations, positive dreams, positive thoughts.
Jeremiah 33:3 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Faith is different than hope, yet they are both needed. Faith reaches up into the mind and grabs certain hopes to bring them into the now realm. Faith is in the now realm, or now faith is.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. NIV
Hebrews 11: 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. KJV
It’s time to hope again! You’ve been afraid to hope, lest your hopes be dashed. You’ve been reluctant to hope, to dream to imagine good, but it’s time to hope again. God is calling you to hope again. God needs you to hope again…to crawl out from under the crags of despair and look for light. Put on the worship music again, sit and listen and let your mind turn positive. God needs this of you.
In Isaiah 43,18 and 19 the prophet announces that God wants to do a new thing, but he says a part of that new thing process is that we don’t ponder, stew and mediate on what didn’t work and what didn’t come to pass. You must “see” the new and then it will spring forth.
Faith needs you to hope again, because faith can only give birth to the object of your hope. Faith reaches into that hope realm and pulls it into the now.
Keys to renewed hope: Forgive yourself, forgive your God, forgive others and see this as a new day of restoration.
