God’s Word on thanksgiving

Pastor Dwain Uncategorized

Col 4:2  Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving…  NASB

2 Thes 1: 3  We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.

2 Cor 2: 14  But thanks be to God, who always leads us in His triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. NASB

Romans 1:20  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.  21  For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22  Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools23  and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.24  Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.25  They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen.

Ps. 50: 23  He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God.”

Neh. 12: 45  They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, as did also the singers and gatekeepers, according to the commands of David and his son Solomon.46  For long ago, in the days of David and Asaph, there had been directors for the singers and for the songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.47  So in the days of Zerubbabel and of Nehemiah, all Israel contributed the daily portions for the singers and gatekeepers. They also set aside the portion for the other Levites, and the Levites set aside the portion for the descendants of Aaron.

James 5: 8  You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.  9  Don’t grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

I Corinthians 10: 8  We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did–and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.  9  We should not test the Lord, as some of them did–and were killed by snakes.  10  And do not grumble, as some of them did–and were killed by the destroying angel.  11  These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.

I Peter 4: 9  Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.

Phil. 2: 14  Do everything without complaining or arguing,  15  so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe  16  as you hold out the word of life–in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.

Eph. 4: 29  Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31  Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32  Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. 5:1  Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2  and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Eph. 1: 15  For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16  I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.  NIV

Ps.  97: 10  Hate evil, you who love the LORD, Who preserves the souls of His godly ones; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.  11  Light is sown like seed for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.  12  Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones; And give thanks to His holy name. NASB
