CHANGING GOVERNMENT FROM THE ROOT UP

Pastor Dwain Prayer

Jesus is the son of man who has been given all authority over the Earth. He functions in the restored authority of Adam, but as the Last Adam. (I Cor. 15:45 and Matthew 28:18,19). As a fulfillment of Psalm 115:16 and due to his sinless life, Jesus has inherited the earth.

This means that he is also King or Lord over all government. Romans 13 declares that those who minister in offices of government are ministers of the Lord. They are under His jurisdiction.

Romans 13:3-4 – For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.

Notice twice Paul shows us that government is a minister of God. This means that Satan’s influence and control in government is illegal, and only exists because he has not been kicked out.

Now I want to submit to you that these same ministers are also under your authority.  They are under the authority of the Church who is seated with Him in heavenly places, joined in a divine union with Him before the Father.

Ephesians 1:20-23 – He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

This is part of the shift that must come to our perspective as believers in prayer and authority.

We shouldn’t look at unrighteous problems in government (lies, deceit, fraud, injustice, etc.) and wring our hands in despair, wondering why we’re so impotent and ineffective.  Too long we’ve done nothing.  Too long we’ve counted these things a sign of the times.  Too long we’ve let the enemy have his way illegally in government.  Remember Satan’s “lordship” in government is illegal.

We can do something – and it starts in prayer, proclamation and decree.

When we can make declarations and decrees concerning our government we are actually functioning as the voice of the Lord, as the sword of the Lord, and as prosecuting attorneys in confronting the theft of our government.

Our government of God (under the Kingship of Jesus) has been taken hostage by unclean influences that we can confront.

Ephesians 6:12 – For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Herein are two examples of how we can begin to release judgments and decrees to shift the balance of power. These are prayers that will displace enemy influences in government:

Deceit and deception, we cast you out of congress. You who minister the influence of lies and deception get out of the congress of the United States. You are functioning illegally and the Lord Jesus rebukes you. Get out of congress and give it back to the Lordship of Jesus.

Pride, witchcraft, impurity, anti-Christ influence, duplicity and rebellion, we cast you out of the executive branch of the United States. Our presidential leadership belongs to Jesus.  Jesus restores purity and uprightness in our presidential office. The Lord Jesus rebukes you unclean influences out and off of our executive branch of government.  Go.  Get out.  The Lord Jesus requires you to go and give up to His Lordship.

Now that you are getting the idea, I want you to write out some of these kinds of prayers over a segment of government where you know there needs to be a cleansing and change.

We can make a change in our government!  We can see society transform!  And we can do it through prayer!
