We often lack the confidence that comes from knowing God’s will
Determining God’s will is definitely a key to successful prayer, but most of God’s will for mankind is revealed in the scriptures. If we come into a situation where His will is not known then is the responsibility as an ambassador to seek God until we know His will.
Jeremiah 33: 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
It is not appropriate to pray a prayer that “leaves it up to God” and thus continue to walk on without understanding, yet this is what most Christians do. This isn’t blind faith, this is being blind. Faith is based on knowing from God
Romans 10: 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (KJV).
God doesn’t want to come down and assert His will and leave you, His ambassador, out of the picture.
You must concern yourself with God’s will. Once you know God’s will for a situation you know what to stand for and how to posture your faith and confession. You represent God and His will in the earth just as Jesus did. Jesus did not live one day of His ministry without ascertaining knowledge of the Fathers will. If he lacked knowledge He spent time in prayer until He had the knowing. Armed with the answers He acted just as God would have. That’s why He said, “if you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father.” That’s why He said, “I don’t do anything unless I see my Father do it or hear my Father say it.”
John 5: 19 Jesus therefore answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
Every morning Jesus got up before it was daylight and went to a lonely place to pray. It was there that He would hear from God. It was there that He would learn of the Fathers will and desires. The result would be faith to act upon the Word of God.
Isaiah 50:4,5 The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of disciples, That I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple. The Lord GOD has opened My ear; And I was not disobedient, Nor did I turn back.
